Australians travelling around Normandy.
This is the best restaurant experience we have had on our travels.
Important to book as always busy.
The front of house person/waitress was so organised, cheerful, good English which was helpful to us.
Beautiful delicious food.
We chose the three course option which was great value for the money.
Good wine and cider .
Wish we could visit again.

I cannot sing enough praises about Le P’tit Resto! Vraiment fantastique! My wife and I were lucky enough to be seated at a table for two; the restaurant is consistently full and for good reason - eating here was an amazing culinary experience. The service was prompt, extremely professional, and very friendly. The entree, main, and dessert were exceptional both in presentation and taste. This was by-far one of the most enjoyable and memorable meals I have had. You could tell that the chef takes pride in his food. I ordered the foie gras, lamb shank (it was so tender and amazing!), and white chocolate tartlet. My wife ordered the goat cheese, sea bream, and the mi-cuit chocolat. I wish we could bring this restaurant home.

We went here for an evening meal while on holiday and found it had very average food and appalling service. It was the worst restsurant we visited during our 2 week holiday . All the others were very good or at least friendly.
This restaurant has some tables outside with superb view of the cathedral. Those tables were occupied when we arrived so we were seated inside. However I noticed that a table became free outside and asked to move ( these tables are not bookable so they were not expecting other people). The waitress had to ask the chef who said no. Even though we had not had our food so it would have been easy.
We ordered a main course. The waitress asked if we wanted a pudding. We said we didn't know yet and she said we had to order everything at the beginning otherwise we would not be allowed to order a pudding later! There was plenty of time after we finished so it wasn't that the kitchen was closing they just have a lot of rules that are not good for customers and create a bad atmosphere.
As for the food, we were given an amuse bouche of a shot glass of gazpacho. Now I love gazpacho but this was a watery flavourless thing like water after somethings been cooked in it.
I have to say that the steak was very good.
However again another rule said that you are not allowed to have potato of any kind with the steak, not chips. Or mash, or any type. You had to have either rice ( never had steak and rice before) or vegetables. We opted for vegetable. The vegetable was a watery kind of puree, again with no flavour.
The waitress was unfriendly and very brusque. We were pleased to leave this restaurant but it has stayed in our memory as "that terrible restaurant with the oppressive and ridiculous rules".
Definitely one to be avoided.

Pretty average food (we had the fish and the pork medallions). The fish had lots of tiny bones that were hard to pick out and the pork was quite dry. That said the service was so warm and friendly and the views of the cathedral were spectacular.

This was an outstanding restaurant that provided exceptional service and food. Our group of nearly 20 had eaten all throughout the city and this was our favorite. The waitress was fast, efficient, and spoke great English (for which we were grateful but did not expect). Highly recommend.

L'Alcôve
Just behind the cathedral, this restaurant is well known for its expertly crafted, market-fresh recipes as full of flavour as they are flawlessly prepared. Examples include spider crab with a dressing made with crab stock and frothy fromage blanc or saddle of rabbit roasted in butter, cannelloni of grilled aubergines and a punchy gravy. Ever popular, all the more so thanks to its eater-friendly prices.

L'Angle Saint-Laurent
The arrival of a new couple at the helm, who worked for many years alongside the former owners, has changed nothing in terms of the establishment’s concept or philosophy: regional produce is cast in the leading role (Bayeux pork, Normandy oysters, Carrouges gruyere) of the appetising lineup. On the corner of Rue St Laurent and Rue des Bouchers, the setting is also as appealing as ever with exposed stone, painted beams and soft lighting. What’s not to like?

La Rapière
This restaurant in a 15C building, tucked away in a picturesque side street, is the lair of a cheerful couple, Simon and Linda Boudet. He crafts flavoursome seasonal nosh that celebrates Gallic culinary traditions. Good country cooking with the odd more contemporary touch: salmon gravlax, dill, beetroot and wasabi; chicken breast, roast apricot, polenta fries and rosemary-flavoured poultry gravy. The 100% homemade profiterole is an exquisite blend of fluffy and crunchy – to die for!

La Table du Lion
At Le Lion d'Or, the chef works his magic with produce sourced in Normandy that he embellishes with Asian flavours. An unexpected culinary marriage inspired by his travels in Asia, particularly Japan and Thailand. Add to this, flawless culinary technique and seasoning and you will be roaring with pleasure!

Le 1720 - Château de Sully
Grandiose is the term that springs to mind when describing this 18C château, set in landscaped grounds planted with Lebanese cedars and sequoias. Take a seat in one of the plush dining rooms or in the bright conservatory to savour the chef’s predominantly Normandy-focused cuisine: vegetables, cheeses, foie gras and, of course, line-caught fish.
