I was one of the first people to arrive at the restaurant that evening, and although by the time I left, they had massive amounts of people there to eat, they obviously didn't have enough servers to look after everyone. I ordered the classic French Onion Soup, and it was so without taste, I was obliged to ask for salt to have any sort of sensation that I was eating anything other than dirty dishwater. The colour of the soup rather than a rich golden was pale and greasy. The salt to nearly ten minutes to arrive. Then I had the warmed goats cheese salad. After waiting an hour for it to arrive, I was shocked. After more than a decade of living in France, I have eaten this dish in many places. It is one of my favourites, and this was the meanest portions I have ever seen. They could not have cut that cheese any thinner. It's obvious the chef here has either lost his passion for food or is so constrained by budget worries that he should be searching to work elsewhere. However, on a more positive note, they will accept dogs, the chairs were reasonably comfortable, and the staff, whilst inattentive and slow, were reasonably friendly and polite. I decided it was too late for desert as I didn't wish to sit for another hour waiting for another disappointing dish. I suspect they were aware of how bad my meal was, as after I queued up to pay, they didn't ask me if I had enjoyed my meal, they simply told me the price of it.

Lovely, atmospheric little bistro, either way in or takeaway. Pizzas are delicious and the staff are very friendly. Right opposite the B&B hotel so very convenient too.

I ordered 2 pizza margherita from here and within 10 minutes they were ready. The staff were very friendly and the pizzas absolutely delicious. Next time we come we will go in for a meal. I can highly recommend this place.

All the staff were very pleasant and should the need arise, spoke good English. Food good and so close if staying overnight at one of the local hotels in coquelles (Best Western, formule 1, B & B). We're regulars now when passing through.

Le Channel
This is a pleasant spot to eat before crossing the Channel. It has an elegant decor, classic cuisine, seafood, and a fine wine list (cellar opens onto restaurant).

Aquar'aile
This pleasant top-floor restaurant boasts a peerless panoramic view over the Strait of Dover and the English coast… it is like something you would expect to see in a painting! The food showcases locally caught fish: lobster casserole, sea bass in a salt crust, sole meunière. To be washed down with a good wine chosen from a list carefully curated by the proprietor.

Le Grand Bleu
The chef, Matthieu Colin, puts the experience he gained in Michelin-starred establishments to good use. In a lovely contemporary interior, he continues to pay tribute to local fishing, but also brings local produce into creative dishes that thrive on originality: cod with seafood condiments, grapefruit, crozets, spiced fennel. Friendly and efficient service.

Histoire Ancienne
This bistro channels an authentic vintage spirit, with its banquette seating, mirrors and Art Deco-style posters. Patrick Comte is at the helm, still cooking up his tasty take on traditional seasonal dishes: snail persillade, corn royale, jus à la bourguignonne; tender veal chop, tarragon mustard cream… Generous cooking is the name of the game!
