We had a very lovely meal here whilst staying for the Olympics. The steak was lovely and the house profiteroles amazing. Super wine too. Highly recommend, thank you for a memorable evening.

I enjoyed an exceptional meal and although French is not my native language I got by easily. The service along with food quality was outstanding and all for a reasonable price. Most of the dinners were obviously locals which strengthened my perception I chose a quality dinning establishment and I was most certainly was not disappointed.
I do plan to return on any future trip to Versailles or Paris.

Arguably the worst French restaurant I have been to (and that's across France, Quebec, and other places).
First of all it was extremely hot inside, no ventilation or AC. We waited for a while for an opportunity to order a drink.
Out of all the dishes we were served that evening only the charcuterie board and side of ratatouille were actually good. Everything else was a huge miss. Beef tartar was mostly made out of sun-dried tomatoes with a hint of meat. Duck breast was impossible to cut or chew. Burger was very greasy.
Desert was a new level of disappointment. What they called a Pavlova (expected to be the most tender dish) needed a sledge hammer to break up and profiteroles were dry on the outside and frozen on inside. Costco profiteroles would be 10 times better.
A shameful example of spoiled evening.

Le Grand Contrôle
This luxurious establishment in the Airelles hotel is steeped in history and inextricably linked to the Palace of Versailles. It combines theatrical staging – with diners being greeted by a valet, and staff in period costume – and cuisine tailored to the occasion. Devised by Alain Ducasse, the menu comprises dishes made with premium produce that reflect the great man's commitment to naturalité. Entrusted to chef Stéphane Duchiron, the food is a masterclass in technical skill, with everything expertly cooked and seasoned, and high-quality sauces and jus bringing out the forthright, distinctive flavours of the ingredients.

Lafayette
Abutting his first restaurant, chef Xavier Pincemin has opened this trendy bistro that sports a series of adjoining Art deco rooms. He is enjoying himself and, in the process, delights us with a menu of varied influences (tacos, ceviche, tiger beef) and a selection of outstanding matured beef displayed in an ageing cabinet, such as the knockout black Baltic rib steak. Casual vibe.

Gordon Ramsay au Trianon
Opened in 1910 on the edge of the palace grounds, the Trianon Palace hotel makes its authoritative presence known to walkers who get close to it. What better place to host the work – and fiery character! – of Gordon Ramsay, already a three-starred chef in London? Head chef Gabriele Ravasio is on site to bring to life a menu that is a celebration of fine produce, playing on the simplicity and relevance of the dishes. Well-managed creativity, appealing flavours… Everything conspires to make for a most enjoyable experience, and the location certainly plays its part: an elegant and luminous baroque dining space, with bay windows looking straight out onto the grounds.

Ore
Ore means "mouth" in Latin. A disarmingly simple name for this place that is quite simply exceptional – a 17C pavilion within the Palace of Versailles. Alain Ducasse is the Sun King of the premises, enforcing the culinary law for which he is known. That of naturality and a constantly renewed homage to fine ingredients.

Le Pincemin
A bona fide star of social media who rubs shoulders with rappers and celebrities, Xavier Pincemin (the runaway winner of Top Chef 2016) almost overshadows the Sun King here in his Versailles restaurant. He brings together all generations and nationalities – if you are lucky enough to get a table. His up-to-the-minute cuisine showcases the finest produce without bells and whistles and demonstrates his sense of ambition as well as his undiminished passion for high-end gastronomy, as exemplified by his dish of hake, verbena, peach and courgettes.

Le Bistrot du 11
You guessed it: the team behind La Table du 11 also runs this bistro located in a touristy pedestrian-only street not far from the palace. Fine produce makes up the menu-carte: baked egg, salad and coconut; beef, potato and garlic; Paris-Brest pastry with pecans.

La Table du 11
Following his first Michelin star in 2016, chef Jean-Baptiste Lavergne-Morazzani has redoubled his efforts, with the support of a solid and efficient team, to win over many more food-lovers in Versailles. His ethos – a natural approach to everything – is clearly apparent on his concise, no-frills menu with a sharp focus on the seasons and starring natural and sustainable ingredients (mainly organic) fish and meat, along with vegetables from his own kitchen garden. The impressive wine list comprises close to 700 labels, with many produced biodynamically. The exclusive location in the timeless Cour des Senteurs near the castle adds further weight to this unique dining experience.
