Great excursion for cruise ship visitors

Great tour! In July 2024, I sailed on Virgin Voyages with a port stop in Toulon. I found this local city tour and I'm so glad that I made this my own excursion, rather than doing something through Virgin Voyages.
Our tour guide was Sarit. She was wonderful! The tour was in English, and Sarit spoke perfect English (she also speaks French and Hebrew). Our tour group was very small - only 5 people. All of us were passengers from the Virgin Voyages cruise ship. The meeting place to start the tour is very easy to find. It's a short walk from the ship port - no taxi or bus is needed, but give yourself about 10 min to walk from the ship to the meeting place - just use Google Maps to find the Genrie de Navigacion statue.
The tour started at 9:30am and lasted 2.5 hours. We walked through the old city streets and learned about the history. Sarit is passionate about Toulon and it's history; her affection for the city really showed - she was fabulous! We made a couple of stops along the tour, one at a gift shop which was a great opportunity to buy local products like olive tapenade, chocolate, etc. We also stopped at a bakery, so it was a great chance to buy a pastry or a drink (and an opportunity to use the restroom). We also went into the cathedral, which was beautiful.
This was a great, small-group tour with a local guide. It was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you Sarit!

Sarit was so knowledgeable and kind! Toulon is a small port town with a deep history, so if that’s your thing this is definitely the tour for you.

Great little walk around toulon. Very informative, interesting and loved the pictures also shown to help visual details about the city history. Would highly recommend especially if from a cruise. Was right on the port.
Favorite part was the church statues. Still have goosebumps.

Our guide was super with a superb presentation on the city. We really enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it. We had a person with Some mobility issues and the guide was so caring and yet kept the tour on track.
