Very interesting movie and museum!

This museum is excellent. I really liked the overview movie. Even though the exhibit is huge, I read about half or less of the displays and still learned so much.

The best of the D-Day museums?

Omaha Beach is the most visited and most celebrated of the five landing beaches that figured in the D-Day operation on June 6, 1944. And Omaha Beach has more museums than any other beach. And the American Cemetery. Curiously, Utah Beach's museum is rated best of all. Why? It offers the most thorough explanation of what happened on Utah Beach on D-Day. The permanent exhibition is based on 10 sequences: German defenses, the Cotentin peninsula under occupation, Allied strategy, D-Day at Utah Beach, naval forces, air forces, land forces, the Junction, from Utah Beach to Cherbourg and the artificial harbor of Utah Beach. In addition, there is a rare and authentic B26 bomber, the film Victory Beach that tells the story of American soldiers at Utah Beach and won the Golden Eagle Award for Documentary in 2023 and the Special Jury Prize in 2013, and a gripping exhibition entitled The Battle of Brecourt Manor: A Buried Memory, which tells the tale of Easy Company's attack on a German artillery battery targeting Utah Beach on the morning of June 6, 1944, a battle popularized by Stephen E. Ambrose's 1992 book Band of Brothers and the outstanding mini-series in 2001. The museum opened in 1962 and underwent expansion in 1964, 1984, 1994 and 2011. Open daily from 9:30 to 7, it enables visitors to understand the strategic choice and the reason for success at Utah Beach. It was the westernmost of the five landing areas of the Normandy invasion. Assaulted on D-Day by elements of the 4th U.S. Infantry Division, it was taken with few casualties, in sharp contrast to what was happening at nearby Omaha Beach.

Utah Beach Landing Museum is well laid out and includes artefacts related to the landing at the beach, personal stories, and displays. It provides an insight into the events of D-Day in a chronological order. Parking is ample and free.

A really informative museum that is well structured and gives you such a good overview of what happens on D-Day.
In particular, the mixture of the multitude of artifacts with the modern presentation is convincing. The highlight is of course the original rebuilt B – 26 aircraft.
