Alberto or one of his great team will meet you in front of the museum and as you make your way to the entrance he/she will explain to you the history and architecture of the building. So when you get in, your kids will already be enchanted by the way the guide is sparking up their imaginations and they will already be comfortable with him. How to get the best experience at the Louvre
richardastrand, Dec 2024
How to explore one of the most famous museums with limited time and with your family (that all want to see different things)? Well, you should look no further, but book this one as soon as possible.
Having the family visit Paris for the first time, wanting to get the most out of our museum visits and experiences, we opted to get a guided tour of the Louvre. First we thought it might be a good idea to go on a group tour, but with tweens, teenagers and adults on the family, wanting a lot of different things, we found Alberto and his team using a consigner service. And they are worth every penny.
We were visiting just before the olympics, so a lot of areas were closed down or restricted. Louvre no different. But our guide, Dominique, prepared us in advance, both to get approvals and meeting locations. We met up and she got us through the queue and into Louvre without much of a wait, passing most people standing in line to get in.
And the outside is also worth taking in. The whole building is impressive in itself, and our guide could answer everything we asked and wondered about when it came to the building, history, art, artists and the history and mythology behind many of the pieces of art.
If there is anything I would repeat, just the same, a second time, it would be booking a visit with Alberto and his team and preferably Dominique.
We got to see all three famous ladies (Venus de Milo/Aphrodite, Nike from Samothrake and the Mona Lisa), the museum basement and sculptures from the Pharos of Egypt through greek mythology and paintings with immense history throughout the museum. My kids had a great time, and they actually did not want to leave (a museum!!!) afterwards. (So thank you Dominique.) I highly recommend you book a visit.
Agate is amazing
Danielle_C, Dec 2024
Agate was the most wonderful, kid friendly, engaging and educational guide. It was like being with an old family friend who happened to be an amazing art historian! She was terrific with our 7 year old and yet still made it educational for us parents too.
Wonderful use of funds and time

Absolutely worth the money and the time. If you want to spend more time exploring you may want to go earlier in the day, but saw all the great must sees and learned a tremendous amount about all that was there and what it took to become what Louvre is today.
Best Louvre experience on a crowded day even!

We had an awesome tour with Ruth!!! She was full of information and had such a great way of presenting it that she kept our 9 year old son captivated. And us too! We hit the highlights with ease with her guidance and then explored after our tour ended, with her recommendations and instructions to set us on the right path. Definitely recommend and no regrets!!! We loved you Ruth:)
Immersion by doing games

The games the tour guide gave to my children…. An immersive experience after visiting the most important pieces of art.
