Great French dinner! From the moment of the first “bonjour” we felt welcome. The staff spoke English and were so accommodating. Advice: make a reservation a day before and plan for two hours. Review the menu before hand so that you can see how it works and research items that you aren’t familiar with. They only take parties smaller than 6 or less.

For our first night in Bayeux, we had dinner reservations at La Rapière. Although we made them several months in advance, we weren't the group with the earliest made reservations that night. We arrived early but as there is only one seating, that wasn't a problem. Linda met us and called us by name.
La Rapière is down a small alley. There's even a real wine cellar.
Our 3 course meal with wine was104€ with the best dessert in France - chocolate profiterole with ice cream and salted caramel.
Put it on your list for Bayeux and reserve early. Even the locals said it was the best restaurant in Bayeux.

It was an absolute pleasure to have dinner in this restaurant. We had the menu with sea bass and chicken as main. As a starter I had the oysters which were tremendous and my girlfriend had the gazpacho. Overall it was from starter until desert a great experience with a lovely service.

A most wonderful dining experience. My husband and I enjoyed an amazing dinner at this restaurant. Service was excellent, casual yet precise. The space was intimate and warm and added to the charming old world atmosphere. The food is sublime.
There are two menus both with wonderful offerings-you can’t go wrong with either.
I had the foie gras-excellent, melts in your mouth. The bass was cooked to perfection and our wine parings were superb. We left happy and content. I highly recommend La Rapiere if you are anywhere near Bayeux. It is a dinner we will not soon forget.
*I highly recommend trying the Trou Normand, a wonderful intermission/transition between courses consisting of house made pomme sorbet and Calvados.

La Rapière was our top dining experience this trip. I made a late reservation for 9PM and we were seated on time. We had Linda, a co-owner as our server this evening. We both chose the up market menu at 52.50 euro. My wife ordered the foie gras, fillet of beef, and the creme brulee. My choice was the langoustines, sea bass and a cheese plate. The dinner also includes little included tasters along the way. Invest at least 2 hours to dine comfortably.
We had fun interacting with Linda and my wife taught her the Baltimore way to ask for rare beef. She likes it "just after the cow says "Moo" ". This translated perfectly to Linda's husband who cooked her streak to perfection. We have been to Bayeux over 10 times over the years and I'm very please to have finally dined here. Can't wait until next time!

L'Alcôve
Just behind the cathedral, this restaurant is well known for its expertly crafted, market-fresh recipes as full of flavour as they are flawlessly prepared. Examples include spider crab with a dressing made with crab stock and frothy fromage blanc or saddle of rabbit roasted in butter, cannelloni of grilled aubergines and a punchy gravy. Ever popular, all the more so thanks to its eater-friendly prices.

L'Angle Saint-Laurent
The arrival of a new couple at the helm, who worked for many years alongside the former owners, has changed nothing in terms of the establishment’s concept or philosophy: regional produce is cast in the leading role (Bayeux pork, Normandy oysters, Carrouges gruyere) of the appetising lineup. On the corner of Rue St Laurent and Rue des Bouchers, the setting is also as appealing as ever with exposed stone, painted beams and soft lighting. What’s not to like?

La Rapière
This restaurant in a 15C building, tucked away in a picturesque side street, is the lair of a cheerful couple, Simon and Linda Boudet. He crafts flavoursome seasonal nosh that celebrates Gallic culinary traditions. Good country cooking with the odd more contemporary touch: salmon gravlax, dill, beetroot and wasabi; chicken breast, roast apricot, polenta fries and rosemary-flavoured poultry gravy. The 100% homemade profiterole is an exquisite blend of fluffy and crunchy – to die for!

La Table du Lion
At Le Lion d'Or, the chef works his magic with produce sourced in Normandy that he embellishes with Asian flavours. An unexpected culinary marriage inspired by his travels in Asia, particularly Japan and Thailand. Add to this, flawless culinary technique and seasoning and you will be roaring with pleasure!

Le 1720 - Château de Sully
Grandiose is the term that springs to mind when describing this 18C château, set in landscaped grounds planted with Lebanese cedars and sequoias. Take a seat in one of the plush dining rooms or in the bright conservatory to savour the chef’s predominantly Normandy-focused cuisine: vegetables, cheeses, foie gras and, of course, line-caught fish.
