Fantastic experience. The food, service and atmosphere were amazing. We’ve travelled to France many times in different areas and this is one of our best experiences for dinner. Service was amazing as well. We look forward to returning the next time we are in Metz. Thank you Ninho for your hospitality and service.

Fantastic restaurant in old town off the garden square that features a variety of cool dining areas optimized for both small or large group dining, beautiful, lush, and colorful atmosphere for photos, and a well-designed interior that gives the restaurant a nice buzz without being overly loud. There is also a fountain indoors that provided the sound of water, and upon closer inspection, housed lobsters and eels!
Service from our server and busser was friendly and warm. Menu included French, German, and English descriptions. Food choices include some classic “grandma’s French dishes,” and we opted for the veal’s head, which was tender, gelatinous, and succulent, and the beef cheek, which was made bœuf bourguignon style, stewed slow and low with pearled onions and a delicious wine sauce. Solid preparation for both, not mind blowing flavors, but excellent execution on classics. The staff also allowed us to swap out the ice creams sandwiched within our profiterole for dessert. For cocktails, we enjoyed their drinks made with mirabelle vodka, which came with the tiny plums themselves from the local area and were delicious, even if a bit too sweet for our preference.
Pricing for two people with two appetizers, three drinks and sparkling water, two mains, and a shared dessert came to about €50pp. They also have set menus at €37 for 3 courses and all you can eat flammekueche for about €18.
Only downside to this lovely restaurant was their bathroom — they were hot, stuffy, smelled like body odor when you walked in and the stalls had the stench of urine like a public toilet. Soap was diluted and there were no paper towels to grab the handle of the bathroom door when exiting to prevent contamination of your hands with more bacteria on the handle. If the staff could have the air circulating, clean more thoroughly, and offer some clean paper towels, this would be an all-around solid establishment.

We had our best dining experience here not just in Metz, but of our entire trip in France. Everything here is on point-the service, the attitude, the ambience, and definitely, the food! Very fresh and tasty seafood platter as well as mussels! Can't express enough how satisfying it was. We ended our meal with flottante as dessert, it was simply amazing. The staff was pretty attentive and polite as well. And the price was pretty reasonable. Definitely recommended!

83 Restaurant
A ten - minute walk from the Centre Pompidou - Metz, this pleasant restaurant showcases Italian food, through carefully selected ingredients (charcuterie, burrata, pasta, wild fish, purebred meats). And to accompany it all, a fine selection of Italin wines!

La Lanterne
La Lanterne is inspired by "La Lanterne du Bon Dieu", the nickname given to Metz Cathedral, which looms over the restaurant. It is run by a young couple who really give it their all: chef Célia Bertrand, originally from Metz, and Romain Bouchesèche, from the Jura, who takes care of matters in the dining room and in the wine cellar. They propose modern cuisine (pollack, morels, vin jaune) that draws inspiration from the Jura, where they met.

Le Jardin de Bellevue
The comfortable and elegant setting of this century-old building has been rejuvenated by the recent arrival of Élise and Paul Fabuel. He is the young chef who appeared on French TV's Objectif Top Chef, as well as completing stints at À Table in Metz and À l'Échevin in Colmar. Here, he serves up an attractive seasonal menu, eg a medley of pumpkin, roast chestnuts, Iberian ham and porcini, or turbot a la plancha, radishes, courgettes with mint and sauce vierge.

La Réserve
In the 16C former garrison food storeroom, nowadays the Citadelle hotel, Aurélien Person’s cooking demonstrates a gourmet streak paired with a generous nature: stone-bass tartare with fennel, mange-tout and preserved lemon ; seared scallops with chorizo and riso venere, fillet of beef with local bacon and carrots… A storeroom with plenty of surprises in store!

Derrière
A great surprise! The chef carefully prepares his appealing dishes without ever giving in to the latest fads, and maintaining a deep respect for the ingredients, as in these calf’s sweetbreads, roasted in butter and served with morel mushrooms. The small dining room to the rear (which gives the restaurant its name) is nicely decorated; the service is relaxed. A delight from start to finish.
