Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop atPic St-Loup
You will walk on forest tracks or traverse peaceful roads most of the time "embedded" in a wooded scrubland in the heart of the emblematic vineyards of the Pic Saint Loup appellation. Many typically Mediterranean species accompany you, cade junipers, pubescent oaks, Aleppo pines. Crossing Lauret, Valflaunès, Fontanès will imbue you with the history of these authentic places. Discreet Romanesque churches, dry stone walls and superb views of the Pic Saint Loup and Le Causse de L’Hortus give this landscape a strong identity mark. Lionel, a certified bike guide-instructor, will guide you in a friendly atmosphere while ensuring your safety and comfort. You will enter a surprisingly preserved area. Depending on the course, your tasting (1 hour) will take place in one of our partner estates. You will appreciate the care taken by sensitive, epicurean winegrowers to obtain quality organic wines, respectful of nature.

Stop atValflaunes
You cross Valflaunès, a very small village, the center of which sits at the top of a small hill. Its large houses of light stones, its pretty Romanesque church, caressed by the sun seem to flow peaceful days under the protection of two limestone giants: Pic Saint-Loup and Mont Hortus. Saint Peter's Church dates from the 11th and 12th centuries, the porch and the arcade bell tower are more recent (the bell tower having been destroyed by lightning in 2004 was rebuilt identically. It is open during services and festivities. from the village.

Stop atEglise Notre-Dame d'Aleyrac
We will take the direction of Fontanès from where we can observe the silhouettes of the Pic Saint Loup and the Hortus, on the east side. But it is in the middle of the vines that we will stop at the Notre-Dame d'Aleyrac chapel, so photogenic!

Stop atChateau de Cazeneuve
You will discover the Château de Cazeneuve, an old building from the 9th century which forms the heart of a wine estate. It is an area with a long winemaking tradition. Having belonged to several owners over the last century, the estate had fallen into disrepair. Today firmly anchored in an organic winegrower approach, it is part of the logic of the Pic Saint Loup appellation.

You will cross the estate established on a clay-limestone scree terroir, made up of terraced vineyards, facing south / south-east. f inserted in the garrigue. Here, you will be surprised because here everything is nature. The place is surprisingly preserved, offering a unique interaction between minerals and plants, vines and woods. The remains of a feudal castle proudly bear witness to a strong history linked to an exceptional location, at the crossroads of many paths taken by men since the dawn of time. Château La Roque produces white, rosé and red wines that come from vines cultivated biodynamically for many years. The wines of La Roque are appreciated all over the world and the cuvée “La Cupa” is regularly praised by the specialized press.

Great (and easy) Ride Through The Vineyards!
MacyandDan, Nov 2022
We had a fantastic time riding through the vineyards of Pic Saint Loup with Lionel! Despite some brief bouts of heavy rain at times, we would not trade a minute of this fantastic tour, and the temperature was otherwise perfect. Lionel was super about letting us know that there might be rain, and making sure we'd still be okay with it, which we were. We had Lionel all to ourselves, and honestly, we were glad the rain kept others away, lol. Riding through the vineyards, and seeing the local villages was great. We took a break at a beautiful old Chateau that is now a hotel, (L'Auberge du Cedre) where they served us a cappuccino during a brief downpour. It's a lovely little gem. We finished up the day at a local winery for a private tasting. FYI, we are not youngsters or athletes, and the pace was very easy for us. Lionel made sure to check our comfort levels as we started out and was very attentive. The equipment was excellent. This is a great value for this unique experience in the beautiful French countryside.
Best experience!

We booked last minute so it was just us on the bike tour. This was one of the best things we have ever done. Lionel was so lovely and the area we were shown was astonishingly beautiful. The biking was adventurous but the electric assistance helped make the experience an easy ride (or if you wanted more exercise you could use less electric assistance). The wines at the end were glorious. Cannot begin to explain how worthwhile this tour is!

Excellent cycle tour and tasting
nicklavery, May 2022
Thanks for an excellent tour. Lionel collected us from Montpellier and took us back to Pic Saint Loup with an excellent cycle tour of the region. The bikes were top class and Lionel was the perfect host. The tour ended with a wonderful tasting before returning to Montpellier. Thank you Lionel

Disappointed on out 1 May bike tour
Raymond B, May 2022
They should have cancelled this trip since on 1 May everything was closed! They did open the bar for wine tasting but they were reluctant to provide even bread and cheese. Also, for the price, I expected to he bike tour TO Pic St Loup. We barely saw the Pic. But that is on us as a close reading of the description does not promise a VISIT to try he mountain.

Sorry that you were disappointed with your bike ride on this day of May 1, a public holiday in France! However, the authentic cellar where you were received was open on this day of May 1; a warm and competent welcome was offered to you, you tasted with great pleasure the wide range of quality wines in the Pic Saint Loup appellation that you accompanied at your request with a bread/cheese plate offered free of charge. On the other hand the tour allows throughout its course to observe superb views of the Pic Saint Loup from different angles, its ascent is not at all planned in our proposal because it is done on foot only.
