    1) In the symbol room, take part in the discovery workshop: enter concretely into the know-how and vision of the building monks: discover the race of the sun and the play of light thanks to a 3-D model, the link between the plan of the Basilica and the human body, between “the rod” (measuring tool) and the harmony of the volumes, Learn to read a marquee: there are over 150 in the Basilica! 2) In the projection room, with the film “In the shade of the Light”, attend the famous plays of light which are only visible on certain days in the Basilica and contemplate closely the wonders of sculpture 3) either leave with our road map and visit the basilica otherwise, or - optional in the morning - do the accompanied journey in the basilica with our guide.

    At the top of a hill in Burgundy, the old abbey of Vézelay erected in Basilica in 1920 rises for 800 years between earth and sky. Listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, it now attracts a million visitors per year. Lovers of art and history, pilgrims, tourists, visitors from all over the world in quest for renewal or meaning in their lives climb the hill to discover this chef of Romanesque art. Accompanied by your guide from the Visitor's House walk through the Basilica: you will have the sensitive experience of the two architectures, Romanesque and Gothic, gathered here in a unique way, you will discover the news of the large tympanum and the carved capitals ... you will take the time to see what you are looking at! An invitation to observation, to a personal apprehension of space and sculpture, to move from a world before oneself to one that one carries within oneself.
