Do this tour as soon as you visit La Rochelle!

I did this tour on my first full day in La Rochelle and I'm so glad I did.

Not only did we see the cities mains attractions, we got a great overview of La Rochelles fascinating history. John was an excellent guide and he hit the perfect balance of information and fun for me.

It was never boring, it was more like walking through the streets with a storyteller and that really brought it to life. He was also super knowledgeable and answered any questions people had about places we were passing.

The great thing about this tour is that its not just history and tourist attractions - you also get a real feel for the cities atmosphere and its culture as you walk through the streets. John gave great suggestions on where to eat, what to try and we were also lucky enough to sample some local pineau on our tour.

It's impossible to fit an entire city into a couple of hours but it felt like we covered so much great stuff. And thanks to John's tips, I left knowing exactly how I was going to spend the rest of my time in La Rochelle.

This tour is brilliant at any time, but book it as one of the first things to do and you'll get even more out of it.

We were just 3 on our Monday tour on our first morning in La Rochelle. John is engaging and relaxed and brimming with knowledge and information about this gorgeous place. We walked where we never would have without him and sampled wonderful restaurants he recommended too. The beautiful shopping streets and the town hall we returned to every day. We also sampled the pineau every day too ! We got the water taxi and swam at La Minimes beach . Our 10 year old adored learning about the history of the city especially the siege and the Priests Tower. And of course spotting le chat !! Thank you John for immersing us in La Rochelle and certainly enriching our short stay to make the most of our time. Highly recommend this tour.

John delivers an entertaining and informative tour along the highlights of La Rochelle’s harbour and historic centre with Irish charme and a solid knowledge of the city’s history. Hence, the tour provides what it should : you’ll see the town with different eyes.

A special thanks for rearranging our attendance at very short notice!
