Easy to fall in love with Montpelier

The entire city. It’s gothic medieval and modern all at the same time. It’s funny I get lost down the small alleys and pop your head in the numerous shops that line them. Jordan was a wonderful guide who knew the city in side and out.

Great surprise walking tour of the City Centre

Estelle was our locale and she was very friendly and sweet. She asked (beforehand) if she could bring her little dog with her - we didn’t mind!
Estelle showed us around the main sites of the city centre and walked through many little lanes.
Estelle didn’t provide any history background but we also didn’t expect it as it was advertised as a ‘surprise walking tour’.
Estelle also gave us recommendations for a couple of restaurants. One of them was Les Cannons and we were able to go there last night. It was definitely a great little find.

Overview of the City Centre walk

Our guide, Estelle, was very nice and gave us a tour of the city. She had contacted us prior to the tour to ask if she could bring her little dog with her. We didn’t mind.
We walked around the city and Estelle showed us the important sites. There was no history background provided, however the description of the tour was ‘a surprise tour’ so I wasn’t expecting it.
We stopped at a local patisserie to buy a Le Galette - this was so delicious.
Estelle also gave her recommendations for a couple of restaurants. One of which was Les Canons - we went there last night and it didn’t disappoint!

Our guide was very sweet and willing but not well prepared
Knew very little about historical facts of Montpellier
I had the feeling that she was not well prepared for this job
Viator guides are usually excellent

Montpellier, redux

Adrian and Josiane met us punctually despite the threatening weather. We greatly appreciated their effort. Fluent in English and French, this couple enjoys family roots in Montpellier and the stories were informative and dear. They offered us choices of walking paths and knew nuance and historical detail about the sites. Not fast paced, just as we enjoyed.
