Excellent tour, extremely knowledgeable guide
jon4913, Dec 2024
Our tour with Robert was excellent. He is extremely knowledgeable and personable. He went above and beyond. The tour included visits to both an Ashkenzi and a Sephardi synagogue and covered hundreds of years of history -- from medieval times to the present.
Fabulous tour of Jewish Nice
theartgirl, Dec 2024
I've been on many walking tours in Europe, but this was by far the most fascinating. Robert Levitt is a superb guide, and his research is meticulous. As a Nice resident, I thought I knew its history and streets, but Robert showed me details I'd never noticed before. I learned a lot about Nice's Jewish history, saw things that are in private hands that I would otherwise never have had access to, and remained engaged throughout the tour. I've been raving about it to friends ever since.
A must-do when in Nice.
Amazing Tour in Nice
parislula, Dec 2024
Yesterday I was blown away by the Jewish Heritage Tour of Nice hosted by Robert Levitt. Robert has a passion and deep understanding of all of Nice especially things related to Jewish history. Robert is very generous with his knowledge and enjoys sharing it with others. He is flexible and is able to cater the tour to any specific interest you may have. Walking through Old Nice Robert often stops to point out something interesting, we saw an ancient lintel adorned with religious symbols that we would certainly have missed without Robert's keen eye. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves history!
The Most Outstanding Tour
SusanRoAne, Dec 2024
Jewish Heritage Tour host, Robert Levitt, is not only medieval historian, he is also a passionate and knowledgeable fan of Nice who knows every street, nook and cranny of this beautiful city. How he shares the fact-based historical information of the sights and sites of Jewish Heritage and history is as wonderful as what he shares. His love of Nice is at the root of it and is palpable. I couldn’t help but share his enthusiasm and affection. We’ve heard the expression “He knows where the bodies are buried” in current political times. But Robert Levitt literarily knows where, why and WHO this bodies buried in the Jewish Cemetery are. He is an historian who’s done the research, not some tour guide spouting off a script. (I just endured 4 of those in Italy). His work has been published both in Nice and Times of ISrael. Most important, Mr. Levitt is engaging and goes the extra mile to make sure that those of us on his tour are comfortable, involved and find value in his tour. I learned more about the Jewish Heritage and Nice’s history than I ever did as a history major or Jewish history/heritage lectures and seminars. I highly recommend this tour!!!
Private Jewish Heritage Tour Nice, France.
travelbon728, Dec 2024
Robert Levitt, our tour guide was able to fulfill every request I had sent via email. My husband and I were invited into both the Ashkenazi and Sephardic ( functioning) synagogues as well as the old/ancient Jewish cemetery. He arranged a private viewing of an ancient passageway in the former Jewish Ghetto, introduced us to his local contacts, and guided us on foot throughout the Old City of Nice. Robert was extremely knowledgeable not only of Jewish history of Nice, but of the city itself. This day was truly one of the best. We were introduced to sights rarely seen by tourists. I highly recommend this tour.
