My husband and I went here while we were in France. Upon walking in the place itself was stunning. We were seated quickly upstairs and almost immediately our server came to bring us water and ask what we were drinking. The drinks came out and were delicious and very pretty looking hahah. The food however was the highlight of the night. My husband had risotto that was flavorful and creamy. And probably the best he had ever had. Our steaks were melt in your mouth tender. If we ever get back to Caen we will absolutely be returning here. If you haven't tried this place you don't know what you're missing. From the staff, to the food, to the atmosphere, it was top notch for sure! Thanks for such a memorable evening!

Delicious food, friendly and attentive service. These guys have a well deserved reputation. Make sure to book ahead, they are popular and busy and for good reason! The cheese sauce it is out of this world. Thankfully the chef seemed to recognise that we made a mistake in not ordering it, because they gave it to us for free and I’m ever so grateful! 10/10 recommended.

I was a member of a large group that had a reservation at Bœuf & Cow. This was my first day in France and my first dining experience in beautiful Caen. The restaurant itself is quite charming in decor and in a great location.
The staff had us all seated promptly and they were a delightful bunch. Extremely friendly and helpful with menu choices, and they checked often to make sure we were enjoying our meal.
I stepped out of my comfort zone, I mean I was in France, and tried foie gras and steak tartare for the first time. Both were above what I was expecting and delicious. A molten chocolate cake was my dessert option. I enjoyed everything about the place and why it's a recommended stop.

If you are looking for a great meat restaurant then this place is a must go! You need to make a reservation because it has almost no space on the spot.
The waiters are a bit chaotic, you need to ask them to come and even repeat when they forgot glases, or the fries…
They are also not consistent. Some tables received olives with the drinks, others didn’t. The cocktails are very good balanced.
The meat price/quality is amazing! Very tasty and prepared the way it needs to be!
We took the meat lovers dish with 3 different types of meat. This should be served on a metal preheated plate i stead of wood! The temperature of the meat drops very quickly and half way through the meat was cold. Nonetheless the flavours of the meat and the sauces are very delicious!
Also the tapas starter were great to get started.
A bit of background music would make it much more cosy to dine.
Overall recommendation to go!

Incredible! Every time I visit Caen, I always make a reservation here. Best restaurant in the city. Everything is wonderful, the people, the service, the delicious food…wow. Even the staff speaks English! I love doing the three course menu. I dream about your desserts.

Magma
This two-storey town house is just outside the centre of Caen, not far from the Abbaye-aux-Hommes. Olivier Barbarin, an experienced chef who is no stranger to fine dining, wanted a location and cuisine that are an extension of himself: confident and delicious food, and decor with a nod to his native Auvergne – the purple walls evoke volcanic rock such as pozzolan. Marengo veal ravioli, hake, Anna apples, pumpkin cream: the formule is a very attractively priced lunch deal, and in the evening a tasting menu is revised depending on the market and the mood.

Le Dauphin
This place is just the ticket for fans of Normandy's specialities: oysters from the bay of Isigny - sur - Mer, Swiss Normandy pigeon, and Vire andouille sausage. The onus is on ingredients from the region but the chef also knows how to compose more original recipes. Elegant and bright decor.

Le Bouchon du Vaugueux
Behind a simple exterior is this bistro with the soul of a true bouchon lyonnais (counter, cheek - to - jowl dining). That said, the chef does not limit himself to tradition and adorns his dishes with more modern ideas. Nice selection of wines from producers.

Stéphane Carbone
A stone's throw from the marina, in the bustling hub of Caen life, chef Stéphane Carbone explores France's culinary terroirs, from Normandy to the Lyonnais and Bresse (where he grew up and learned to cook), and his parents' and grandparents' native Calabria. Fresh produce, a lobster set menu and cookery classes on Saturday mornings.

Séquence
A mysterious name, no difference between the starters and the mains in the evening, exchanges of ideas with the customers (invited to preview the dishes in the kitchen): chef Antoine Triquet has chosen to break with conventions, true to the path that has led him from insurance to cooking. The culinary fundamentals are present and correct, the portions generous and tasty, nature and the seasons are respected, and the cooking is on point (buttery yet crispy poultry, creamy polenta and ketchup). The space has a poetic interior designed to encourage conversation.

Ivan Vautier
Purebred Normandy chef Ivan Vautier has been honing his talents for over thirty years in this property, done up in tasteful contemporary vein outside the town centre. Fiercely proud of his region, the chef aims to showcase the very best of Normandy’s ingredients in soul-warming recipes: green asparagus from Bellengreville; wild morels from a local picker; double cream from Isigny Sainte Mère; Normandy raised pork etc, without forgetting the local catch. Those with a sweet tooth will be entranced by the vision of a millefeuille “as high as a skyscraper”!
