Worthwhile all day D-Day tour by an exceptional professional - Jonathan
Sherpa402159, Dec 2024
Jonathan gave us an outstanding and memorable tour of the American beaches in Normandy a few weeks before the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We recommend him unequivocally. The magnitude of the beaches and cliffs, were overwhelming and the added tales and historical facts Jonathan provided us brought back to that June morning. In fact, we similarly arrived at low tide but the héros of that day enabled us to be greeted by trotting racing horse being exercised instead of bullets from an overhead bunker..
From the moment we meet Jonathan at our B&B in Bayeux until when he dropped us off we were entertained with historical facts, stories, and current day life. Above all he has an entertaining personality which makes the time fly by.
We went off the beaten path for a delightful lunch providing us more energy to carry on with the outstanding full day tour.
An awesome experience. Would highly recommend Philip and this experience.

Being in Normandy for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day was the goal. The amount of traffic and restricted space not withstanding, we say some amazing things. We saw some of the key landmarks, some ceremonies, and experienced some veterans returning to the site of modern history’s most important day.
Highly recommend Private Tours!

Our family had an incredible experience with Sophie as we toured the Normandy coast. Sophie tailored the day to our interests and is extremely knowledgeable about the D-Day sites and WWII history, including the events leading up to June 6, its aftermath, and the types of military equipment used during the combat. As a local, Sophie added additional perspective on the role of the community in the invasion. We highly recommend Private Tours and Sophie. The tour was easy to book, and Private Tours stayed in communication about where to met and structure our day. Having a guide greatly deepened our understanding and appreciation for the efforts and sacrifice made to preserve our freedom.
Great experience!

The BEST day in Normandie

We loved our time with Jonathan! Booked a private tour for the four of us (including our 15 & 12 year olds). He picked us up at our hotel & off we went tracing the U.S. on June 6th, 1944. While we hit the major spots, he took us to some off the beaten path, lesser known areas of importance on that day which we loved. His passion for history is unmatched. He is SO knowledgeable & I could have listened to him for days. If we ever get the chance to come back, I will absolutely book him again. Highly recommend!
