Great tour of the area, with a knowledgeable guide
Nathan_E, Oct 2024
We had a very small group, just my partner and another tourist to the area, which made it nice and personal. We only spoke English while the other tourist only spoke French, so our guide (Nicolas I think, should have written this review sooner) had his work cut out for him giving all the information twice, in both languages. The drive out from Marseille to Arles took a while, but Nicolas told us so much about the history of the area and the roads gave us a good view of the surroundings so it wasn't a problem. In Arles the Van Gogh Foundation was displaying Starry Night Over The Rhone so Nicolas modified the route to spend a bit longer here so we could have longer going round the gallery. We spent more time in Arles looking around the town, with a bit of free time to explore at our own pace. Next we were off to Les Baux. Here we had 2 hours to explore the area ourselves. Definitely better coming here on a tour, as you can't park near the top so Nicolas had to drop us off and repark ages away then pick us up later. We had a good time looking round the town, very scenic and lots of restaurants, shops and a local art display going on. Next we went to St. Paul de Mausole. Again we had about an hour to explore the area at our own pace. Finally we went to Avignon. Again we were able to explore at our own pace for 2 hours, but we were so worn down from the heat and walking we ended up just getting some drinks in the shade rather than going to the Palais des Papes. If you're a bit hardier than us you'd definitely have had the time. Finally we returned to Marseille - it was another long drive, but Nicolas still had plenty to tell us about to keep us entertained. Traffic coming in wasn't great but that's big cities for you. We didn't have anything booked in after so it wasn't a problem for us - maybe bear that in mind if you have a restaurant reservation, give yourself the extra time. This was a fantastic tour of a few highlights of Provence, I'd recommend to anyone able to handle the walking and heat (if you go in summer).
Very nice tour. Very nice...

Nicholas was excellent! Attentive, informative, and engaging. He is one of the best tour guides we have had in our any travels.
Great Four-City Overview
Cary_S, Sep 2024
We were with another couple on the tour where great people and enhanced the tour a lot. The tour was pretty comprehensive and covered a lot of territory in one day which is what we were looking for (we had limited time) and there were some great spots (esp St Remy and Les Baux) that I would t have known about. Our guide was a good guy with whole we had rapport. Personally I would like more emphasis on Roman ruins and history and less Van Gogh but the woman with us was more into Van Gogh so that’s really a subjective thing. My husband is over ruins so he was happy enough with Van Gogh.
Good historic tour

Great tour of the Provence region. Recommended for Van Gogh and history buffs. Knowledgable tour guide.
