Our journey begins as we head to the pilgrimage and fortress village of Rocamadour, nestled above a tributary of the River Dordogne. This charming village takes its name from St. Amador, whose relics were discovered in the sanctuary in 1166, inspiring the name "roca" (cliff). Prepare to be enchanted by Rocamadour's historical monuments and the revered Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which has drawn pilgrims for centuries, including kings, bishops, and nobles. With your expert guide, wander the medieval streets to the middle section, where the church square, Place St Amadour, is surrounded by seven sanctuaries. Stop atSanctuaire Notre-Dame de Rocamadour

Upon arrival, your guide will introduce the sanctuary’s significance. Look for the legendary sword of Roland, Durandal, embedded in the cliff. According to legend, Charlemagne's nephew threw it from the battlefield, ensuring it would never be wielded again, and it miraculously landed in Rocamadour. Step inside the renowned Notre Dame Chapel, part of a 13th-century complex. Your guide will share the story of the Black Madonna, a magnificent 12th-century walnut carving. Admire the ship models hanging from the ceiling, offered by survivors who credited their rescue to her intervention. Legend says the chapel’s miraculous bell rang once for each saved ship. Stop atSaint-Cirq-Lapopie

Continuing our full-day tour, we head to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, often called the most beautiful village in France. Perched on a steep cliff 100 meters above the Lot River, it is exceptionally well-preserved, resembling an open-air museum. Named the "Most Preferred Village of the French" in 2012, it has long inspired artists, including Post-Impressionist Henri Martin and writer André Breton.
