    Stop atPere-Lachaise

Join us for a Private Tour led by native/ fluent English speakers of the Père Lachaise Cemetery. Life, love and death have never had so much meaning as inside this cemetery. Its intriguing labyrinth of roads and dirt paths between the graves reveal a new perspective on how to visit Paris. You'll visit the graves of Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf, Frederic Chopin, Sarah Bernhardt, Marcel Marceau, Molière, Abelard & Heloïse, just to name a few. As well as the Holocaust Memorials. Learn about the artists, writers, politicians, and other remarkable personalities that are buried within the beautiful stone walls of Père Lachaise, and listen as your guide tells you about the remarkable stories and moments in history that have taken place at the cemetery itself. From a gruesome battle in Paris’s communist uprising to the hordes of Jim Morrison fans that make pilgrimages to visit the tomb of the Doors front man, Père Lachaise has seen its fair share of Parisian history. “Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no tomorrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.” – Oscar Wilde, The Canterville Ghost “Time to live, time to lie, time to laugh, and time to die. Take it easy baby. Take it as it comes.” ― Jim Morrison

Getting to know Père Lachaise with Hugo, our awesome host!

Gareth_Z, Dec 2024

Our Père Lachaise tour was facilitated by Hugo who expertly guided us through the huge cemetery. We were booked in for a small group tour but lucked out as it was just the two of us on Hugo's list for the afternoon.

We toured gravesites where the mortal remains of notable people now rest, learnt about their remarkable lives and how they dented human history. We also learnt about Père Lachaise's evolution to become the world famous cemetery it now is as well as the memorials located within its walls.

In Hugo we had a very friendly, easygoing, knowledgeable guide with a passion for history who was eager to customise the tour just for us.

Hugo was able to encourage and engage in discussions and enlighten us about French history as well as the trials, tribulations and successes of French and Parisian society. Plenty of walking done, plots covered (or uncovered as the case may be) and history to unravel. It was never a dull moment and we would absolutely do something like this again.

Interesting and insightful tour

My family including a teen really enjoyed our tour of Père Lachaise Cemetery with Florent. He made it interesting and accessible to all of us. We were able to marvel at the wide scope of individuals buried there, as well as understanding the context of their lives in history. Highly recommended!

Don’t miss this Paris landmark!

A great experience at Pere Lachaise

970lillyl, Dec 2024

We had been wanting to have this experience for a long time. We have been to Paris so many times and we finally managed it. Hugo was wonderful. We would never have been able to understand what we were seeing or even in which direction to walk! Hugo knew so much everywhere we turned. And he had so many side stories to tell us. It was a fascinating tour that we were so happy to have finally done, with a wonderful guide! Thank you!

Incredible

Marcus_T, Dec 2024

Our guide Hugo was a wealth of knowledge. He had so many interesting stories about many people that are buried or memorialized here. The Cemetary is VERY large and the old sections were not organized well but with this guide we were able to easily navigate to interesting people and sites. Highly recommend!
