Enriching visit!
jabell0, Oct 2022
Built by the light.
We booked this discovery and visit at La Maison du Visiteur. It was a very enriching experience! It was so well organized - introduction, film, presentation of the basilica’s features and proportions. It is one of the most naturally well lit churches I’ve ever visited! Kudos to our guide - so knowledgeable and answered everyone’s questions.
Peaceful and calm
angelaofcastleton, Aug 2022
Perched high on top of a hill in the centre of the picturesque village of Vezelay the Basilica has an ornate entrance and once inside the church has high, ornate ceilings and windows. It is large and peaceful. The main entrance involves steps but there may be a side entrance for wheelchairs.
Absorbing tour of the Basilica in Vezelay
Earl_P, Apr 2022
Our guide was fabulous, very knowledgeable and really brought alive the intricacies of the Basilica, we became totally absorbed and lost all track of time. A fabulous way to learn about Vezelay. The Maison du Visiteur are enthusiasts and this makes their tours the best.
Extraordinaire architecture
Herv_N, Aug 2024
L’érudition du guide et son habileté à se faire écouter par tous. Il est également attentif aux personnes moins mobiles.
Boring, childish, uninformative
parisp473, Aug 2024
Poetic but uninformative film, purely aesthetic and religious.
The guided tour was very well designed...for children. Forced participation of the group in multiple quizzes not interesting and not very informative. Very slow and boring pace by a Guide more suitable for kindergarten than for an adult ride. If you are between 6 and 10 years old, or if you are in the religious bliss of the place, you will feast.
