    Stop atCruise Terminal Le Havre

The Le Havre Cruise Terminal, located at the tip of Florida, welcomes cruise ships at the Roger Meunier, Pierre Callet, and Joannes Couvert quays. This terminal, open only on stopover days, serves as a major gateway for travelers seeking to explore Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and even transatlantic destinations. Le Havre, a city with a rich maritime history, has rebuilt itself after the devastating bombings of September 1944, which destroyed much of the city. Today, it stands out not only for its modern architecture but also for its vitality as the main port of call and embarkation in northern France. Over the past decade, cruise travel has seen significant growth here, further solidifying Le Havre's position as a key hub for maritime journeys to numerous destinations.

Built in the late 15th century, this entirely wooden church is the largest of its kind in France, making it a truly remarkable monument. Its unique architecture is the result of the craftsmanship of the shipbuilders of the time, who applied naval construction techniques to create this place of worship. The main nave, with its shape resembling an overturned ship’s hull, is supported by massive oak beams, exuding both strength and elegance. The detached bell tower, reminiscent of an old ship’s lighthouse, further emphasizes the maritime connection that defines Honfleur. Dedicated to Saint Catherine, the patron saint of carpenters, the church reflects the significance of this community in Honfleur’s history as a once-thriving maritime port.

Great Experience - You won't be disappointed!

Daniela_R, Dec 2024

I give this tour 5 stars! The experience on the retrocycle was amazing and Nicolas our tour guide and pilot not only gave us wonderful information about the Normandy Coast and its history, but kept us safe as we went from La Havre, cruise port to Honfluer. We went over the Normandy Bridge into Honfluer visited the beautiful town and then headed up the hill to the Notre Dame de Grace church of our Mother Mary, where local fisherman continue to this day to pray to Mother Mary for their safety. We then head to a view point where Nicolas explained the history of Normandy and how the town below was spared bombing during WWII. Our tour continued through a tree-line area to a local whisky (Calvados) makers farm where they make whiskey from apples. We had a lovely tasting (not my real cup of tea) but it was interesting. We then headed back down to the neighborhood of St. Catherine where we walked a bit and visited a unique Catholic Church made of two fishing hulls. Nicolas continued to explain about the history of the Vikings, the explorers, the artists and all the unique history of the area. He then returned us safely to our cruise ship.

Honfleur was amazing, as was the history, the church, and the view. It was a unique way to travel and very enjoyable. The apple farm was a treat! A very knowledgeable young man, with multiple tastings of the different apple ciders and proofs.

Nicholas was a safe driver, pleasant and information.
