Villefranche Shore Excursion: Small Group Tour Monte Carlo, Eze and La Turbie

We enjoyed our small group (5) tour. Our guide was patient and knowledgeable. The person behind the scenes was communicative about pickup from booking to arrival at the port.

Booked 8:30am tour coming off the Celebrity Ascent. However the ship was using a local tender service that was incredibly slow. Despite arriving 40 minutes before tender ticketing opened and waiting 2.5 hours for the tender itself we missed the tour. The operator was contacted about the delays and did wait most of this time but departed just before the tender docker port side.

The real disappointment is that the tour was scheduled way too early to cater for such a large cruise ship. Tenders are commonly used in this port and in such circumstances. An experienced tour operator should be able to schedule their tours accordingly.

From comments at the port terminal others off the Celebrity we also left behind by their tour parties.

Bottom line is best avoid these independent tours when arriving by ship that rely on tendering to deliver large numbers of people. Stick to ship excursion in that case.

Well thisnwoukdmhave been better if we could hear what the guide was saying.e wee at the back of the van and he had no microphone and spoke softly, 3 times I asked him to speak more loudly, but to no avail, so I gave up the were also inconsistencies. We were given 30 mins to explore Exe on our own; this was far too short. We also assumed (misread?) that it would include Fragonard as well - no.E drove straight through LA Turbie without stopping, so how could that be counted as part of the shore excursion. We then had an excessive amount of free time in Monaco/Monte . My comments would have been unnecessary if the above had been clear when we booked, but even that would not have excused the fact that it was impossible to hear the commentary. On several occasions the person in front of us leaned over to give us the information.

Half day small group tour of Eze, Monaco and Monte Carlo September 17, 2022. Guide Fred was a very knowledgeable tour guide, and as he is a Monagasque and currently lives in Nice, was perfect for the history and locale. Eze is a UNESCO preserved old medieval village with great views. Quite hilly and moderately difficult walk from parking site. Gardens at top beautiful with great view, but a little pricey as separate entrance. Fragonard perfume factory store visit of little interest to me but wife enjoyed it.

- Short ride from Eze to Monaco, again well-informed by guide Fred, who knew all the shortcuts and exactly how much time to spend in each location; all times were appropriate. We drove all over Monte Carlo, including the entire Formula I race course. Beautiful views - old city of monte Carlo by Prine's palace are quite touristy. Casino, shopping, hotels, etc. were interesting. Overall great 1/2 day cruise excursion in a clean, well-air conditioned Mercedes van. Pick up at Villefranche port parking lot. Would recommend highly.
