Stop atMusee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie
Memorial museum of the battle of Normandy is located at the gateway to the D-Day beaches. It is the only museum which presents all of the military operations which took place on Norman soil over the summer months of 1944. The museum shows visitors all the key phases of the fighting and the day by day advances of the forces involved. This visit is essential preparation for visiting the memorial sites of summer 1944.

Stop atOmaha Beach
Let's visit Omaha Beach, which is the second beach from the west among the five landing areas of the Normandy Invasion of World War II. It was assaulted on June 6, 1944 (D-Day of the invasion), by units of the U.S. infantry divisions. Many of whose soldiers were drowned during the approach from ships offshore or were killed by defending fire from German troops placed on heights surrounding the beach.

Stop atArromanches
Arromanches is known as a historic place of the Normandy landings and in particular as the place where a Mulberry harbour artificial port was installed. It was on the beach of Arromanches that, during the Invasion of Normandy immediately after D-Day, the Allies established an artificial temporary harbour to allow the unloading of heavy equipment without waiting for the conquest of deep water ports such as Le Havre or Cherbourg. Although at the centre of the Gold Beach landing zone, Arromanches was spared the brunt of the fighting on D-Day so the installation and operation of the port could proceed as quickly as possible without damaging the beach and destroying surrounding lines of communication.

Amazing day in Normandy!!
Elizabeth_W, Dec 2024
Ahmed was a wonderfully kind driver for the day of exploring the Canadian-specific sites we wanted to see in Normandy off the cruise ship. We worked out our key stops ahead of time and had time for a wonderful lunch in Bayeux. It was an absolutely incredible day for us!
Great driver to Normandy
Mark_D, Dec 2024
Ahmed was our driver. He claimed to be not very fluent in English, but we found it fairly easy to communicate with him. He was just a driver and not a tour guide so he took us to places that we want to just see. He gave us ample time at the locations, and we never felt rushed. we travel with a handicapped adult daughter, and he appear to recognize her limitations. Overall, he did a great job.
Great visit to Omaha Beach
Jacquelyn_F, Dec 2024
Our driver was very considerate and willing to stop where we requested. We stopped at a wonderful cathedral in Bayeux on our way to Omaha Beach. We saw Omaha Beach and it’s monuments and the American Cemetery where the bus tours went as well. But we also stopped at the Overlord Museum and another museum about Omaha Beach as well- did not see the tour buses there. Highly recommend visiting the museums. Unfortunately, we spent too much time in the museums, we didn’t have time to visit Utah Beach. Will have to save that for the next trip.
