I was curious as to what a wine theme amusement park was
alohatripper, Jun 2024
One hour north of our Lyon hotel is this wine theme park. I had no clue what to expect as this may be the only one of its kind. Its rather expensive to enter at 22E but includes a wine tasting of their Beaujolais. There are many, unique exhibits -- 3-D, or animated videos in comfortable settings, eg, Noah's Ark, history of wine growing in the area, types of Beaujolais, vineyard implements and wine-making tools and fermentation process.
In a larger room with tables and chairs there is the finale, wine tasting (2) with accompanying music by a mechanical band.
You have to go! Unique!
Occasionally informative, occasionally bizarre, but worth a visit.

We arrived by train from Lyon, which is very convenient because the facility is right across the street from the train station. There was confusion at reception about our reservation made through TripAdvisor - they didn't seem to know how to handle it but eventually figured it out.
The museum itself is spread through around a dozen buildings, each with its own theme. The tour is self-guided, and passage through some of the buildings is limited by the timing of the multimedia presentations. Some of them are interesting and informative, but most of the video presentations were kind of weird (senseless and hokey graphics, and mostly uninformative). Displays about vineyard pest management and old manual implements and about the various terroirs of Beaujolais were the best. The multimedia presentation in a wing of the train station on the supposed meeting of Napoleon III and Queen Victoria in Romaneche-Thorin was downright bizarre - hard to describe, so you'll just have to experience and judge for yourself.
The wine tasting at the end of the self-guided tour was generous, and the shop is large with many wine-related items and wines from other areas as well, and prices seemed reasonable.
We found the nearby Museum of Compagnonage to be much more interesting and beautifully curated - don't miss it if you're in the town (it's about a 15 minute walk from Hameau Duboeuf).
A must in Beaujolais , don’t miss it !

Exceeded our expectations not only was it knowledgeable but was an experience using 3D and movement senses. Got there at 10 am left at 5 pm. Full day there great value for money. Restaurant attached was superb. Good choice of food on the a la carte menu as well as fixed price menu
. plus good selection of Beaujolais wines. Anthony the maitre d'hotel was excellent. Made us up a table even though restaurant was full. Good service too by fabienne. Precilla in ticket office was extremely helpful being the only non French people there she was very caring to make
Visit to advise for a good day
