Great running tour of Paris with photos!

barryrJ9518ZE, Dec 2024

Jean-Charles was a wonderful guide and storyteller! Would definitely do it again! We met at our hotel, enjoyed a running pace very similar to our pace at home, but also had plenty of time to stop and talk about the history and culture and character of the city and its wonderful neighborhoods! We saw gardens and monuments and cozy little streets and so much more!

If I could rate this running tour 10 stars, I would! Jean-Charles was so friendly and informative. He planned a custom tour based on our curiosity and showed us all the amazing highlights of Paris plus a local’s perspective of even more interesting historical markers and so much more. Running tours are such a great way to get your bearings and get a true feel for a new city. I’ll be recommending this tour to everyone I know!

Responses from Jean-Charles S

Running, Paris and history - a perfect combination with a fabulous host

kiwipippa, Dec 2024

This tour was the highlight of my trip to Paris. Jean-Charles knows the city so well and has a way of describing the history and culture that entrances and keeps you wanting more.

We ran about 10km in the early morning with the city slowly waking up. I was collected promptly from my hotel in the St Germain-des-Pres area and we set off from there. Along with the major monuments and buildings we saw historic remnants of city walls accessed in an underground carpark, a roman amphitheatre, the almost deserted Louvre courtyard - what a great photo op, little parks and squares, the flower market and various historic literary sites. We also saw the original location in L'Odeon where Ulysses was published. I returned to this later and talked with the owner who showed me some historic photos of Sylvia Beach and James Joyce. We ran across the bridges of the Seine and kept an eye out for the tokens in the footpath pointing out the direction and historic meridian line. Along the entire way were historic buildings and landmarks to marvel at.

I kept asking questions wanting to know more and Jean-Charles knows it all! History brought to life - painted on windows to avoid window tax, the street of Bad Boys, the old cemetery at Les Halles, Haussman's removal of crowded housing & building of wide open boulevards. I learnt so much and had a fantastic time, what a way to see the city.

Jean-Charles documented the entire tour with photos and gave me a summary of on paper afterwards as well. I was sent all the photos soon after the tour ended and a Relive link documenting the route with photos. He also sent through several links to items that I had a shown an interest in on the way.

Book this tour - you won't regret it. I'll be back next time for another tour to learn some more. Thanks Jean-Charles, you are an amazing host. I hope your Olympic pour tous goes well. See you in New Zealand one day.
