Highly recommend this trip-and you will love Diana if you are lucky enough to have her as your guide!

Brendan_G, Dec 2024

Diana our guide, and Vadim our driver did a great job. We knew this would be a long day, but at each stop we were given plenty of time to explore each destination. Our favorites were the American Cemetery, Point Du Hoc, and Arromanches. Diana did a great job telling us about each location and helped us make the most of each stop. Departed hotel on time, and arrived back in Paris in time for a late dinner.

The Cemetery and the Bunkers at Omaha Beach. Very emotional experience. The guides were on time and knew where to go every step of the way

Worst Tour I have ever booked for a client - Stay away from Clewel Travel

387amalm, Dec 2024

Beware - You won't get what you paid for and you won't get a response or compensation when you advise you didn't get what you paid for.

Stay away from booking this tour. I am a travel advisor and I booked it for a client with Viator. It clearly stated English speaking guide, otherwise I would have never booked it and would have booked a small group shared tour that was less then one third of the cost. Sadly my client received a driver only that only spoke Ukranian. My client spoke French and asked if he spoke french since no English and he said no. Since this was a highlight for my client and his grandson, they were so disappointed. The driver used a translator on his phone that was horrible and not translated accurately, so they were guessing what to do and how to proceed at each stop. The worst part of this is when I wrote Viator and asked for a refund since it clearly wasn't what the client paid for. I was told multiple times by Viator that they confirmed the services were provided. I advised over and over, he drove them but didn't speak one word of English. So how is this a private guided English speaking tour. They responded again that it the client received all the services. I wasn't advising the client didn't get tickets and didn't get dropped off for every sight advised as a visit. He didn't have an English speaking guide which it clearly stated on the voucher and on the website for Viator. So beware and don't book anything with Clewel travel as they knew what happened during the tour and proceeded to say they supplied the booked service. I will also no longer book Viator because they didn't back the product that they allow to be sold on their site. They finally came back and gave the client 25% refund on this service after I advised to at least refund them 50% considering they got less than half a tour a driver and no English guide.

Responses from Clewel T

The review comes NOT from the customer himself/ herself but from the Travel agent who never participated at this tour and obviously had no time or was to lazy to read the description at all. We made all services according to the client's ticket. That is why Viator refused the agency's claim to get some money back. Dear travel agent, Take always Your time for reading the description beforehand and inform correctly the client about all the details. That is the way how it works. Indeed it is not a Live-guided tour (see description). The itinerary includes: The Caen Memorial visit with audioguides in English and documentaries with English subtitles, the 360 Circular cinema in Arromanches with English subtitles, Lunch in Arromanches, the Normandy American cemetery visit with a small museum which contains all the informations in English as well, Omaha beach monument visit, visiting of Pointe du Hoc. By this Private Experience we add guides starting with 4 participants but they give a lot of general informations but don't make guided tours in the Cemetery, in the Cinema etc where people spend time themselves watching, feeling, thinking... We have on Viator's web minute for minute description for this trip and make it several times a week. The driver's goal is to drive the clients by our Mercedes fast and safety to all places due to the description total 650 km (380 miles) within one day while clients are relaxing.

Amazing moments with real people…

pmjl2015, Dec 2024

What an amazing moment in our lives. Rustam, our tour guide, we nicknamed “Rusty” was amazing as he orchestrated our time with video prior to reaching destinations, elaborated on activities and guided us providing us ample time to experience locations. Rustam was not only well-spoken but, he was so much fun and we didn’t want the tour to end. It was not just about the tour, it was about people and here is a winner. Cheers!

Comfortable, but not what we expected

Joseph_K, Dec 2024

Pointe du Hoc was amazing. Best part of the trip.

Unfortunately, our guide did not speak English (which it stated they would in the description). We had hoped for someone to actually “guide” us, but our driver would take us to each point and then explain in very broken English what time we needed to be back at the car.

He was very nice and the car was clean & comfortable, which is great for a long day of driving.

But for the money, I don’t feel we got what we paid for.

Thank You very much for Your participation and that You found Pointe du Hoc amazing. My personal favourite site remains Normandy American Cemetery. Thank You that You found as well our Mercedes comfortable. Our driver drove You about 650 km bringing You on time to all sites: Caen Memorial and Museum which is not so much offered by other suppliers because too expensive. Everything is there in French, German and English. You had also audioguides. It is a great site for me since they reopened cinema with exellent documentaries running non stop in French with English sublitles. Arromanches-les-bains with 360 degrees Cinema is also very impressive (English subtitles as well), Lunch at a local restaurant (Menu in English), Normandy American Cemetery with a cute Museum where You can find everything in English and French. Cemetery itself I have visited many many times. Just silent walking. More than 9 thousand crosses. That's it. Omaha Beach memorial on the Beach. Pointe du Hoc is also very very good. The itinerary was 14 hours. Not cheap but comfortable. By big bus it would be cheaper but not possible to visit all the sites.
